Caterpillar Increase its Dividend by 13 Percent

Board of directors of Caterpillar Inc (CAT) recently announced the increase in cash dividend by 13 percent to $0.52 per share for the quarter which is to be paid on August 20th, 2012. The x-dividend date for the cash dividend is going to be July 20th.

Caterpillar maintains the record of paying dividend to its shareholder every year since 1925 and has also paid regular quarterly dividend since November 1933. The company’s chief executive, Doug Oberhelman commented, “We aim to deliver total stockholder return in the upper 25% of the S&P 500 and this 13% increase in our dividend represents our continued commitment to providing value to stockholders.”

Caterpillar Inc. (CAT) gained 0.70% to close at $85.89 in its last trading session. The traded volume stood at 6.12M shares as compared to its average traded volume of 7.38M shares per day. The company’s total outstanding common stock accumulates up to 652.50M billion out of which 650.86M billion shares are floated in the stock market. Insiders hold 0.29% of the total outstanding common stock while 65.30% of outstanding shares are held by different institutions. Looking at its price history the share price has traded within the prices ranges of $67.54 to $116.95 in last one year. By the end of the session the stock’s price to earnings ratio stood at 10.84 times. Its dividend yield stands at 2.42 percent.
