Apollo Group Inc Reports Profit in its Second Quarter

Apollo Group (APOL) has recently announced its financial results for the second quarter according to which the company reported the net profit of $63.9 million or earnings or $0.51 per share for the second quarter as compared to net loss of $64 million or loss of $0.45 per share for the same period last year.

The company’s profit was a more of a shock to investors as the Apollo Group Inc’s revenue declined to $969.6 million for the respective quarter as compared to revenue of $1.05 last year. Analysts were expecting earnings of $0.39 per share with total revenue of $933 million. Excluding items the company’s earnings per share stood at $0.58 for the quarter.

Apollo Group Inc. (APOL) surged 1.30% in its last trading session to close at $39.04. The company has floated 112.93M billion shares in the stock market out of its total outstanding common stock of 120.64M billion shares. Insiders hold 11.66% of the total outstanding common stock while 90.10% of outstanding shares are held by different institutions. The traded volume stood at 2.60M shares as compared to its average traded volume of 2.75M shares per day. The stock price moved 8.62 times to its earnings per share in the last trading session.
